This table combines an extract from Table 1 showing 54 of 67 Florida counties reporting over/undervotes in the November 7th election and

a table appearing in the January 28th, 2001 Orlando Sentinel which analyzed the discarded over-votes and under-votes in 15 Florida Counties

to determine voter intent.

Each of these counties used optical voting tabulated at a central location. Each displayed an extremely high percentage of over-votes from more than 1% to as much as 9% of the presidential votes cast. (see Table 2).

The analysis showed 2734 of the "recovered" votes were for Bush and 4044 were for Gore, or a NET GAIN of 1310 for Gore. Bush won 14 of these counties.

The total of the two counts is 6,778. The final counts for the 15 counties shows a total of 16,061 uncounted votes.

Thus of the 16,061 uncounted votes, almost all of which were over-votes, the Orlando Sentinel identified 42% as probably designating voter intent.
